# Connect Signal to OpenClaw

Let OpenClaw read, triage, and reply across Signal, governed by SealGate with your login kept on your device.

Paste this into your coding agent, or run it yourself in a terminal.

Please help me connect Signal to OpenClaw through SealGate on my machine. Follow the setup steps at https://sealgate.ai/connect/signal/openclaw.md and stop whenever I need to act myself: approving this device in the browser when the installer asks, and approving the Beeper connector in the SealGate dashboard.

Copy

Requires macOS or Windows (Linux is experimental) with the Beeper desktop app installed.

## Connecting OpenClaw

OpenClaw adds the SealGate gateway as an MCP server, so the self-hosted agent reaches your messaging apps through SealGate's governed, logged tools instead of wiring up every connector itself. See the [OpenClaw setup guide](https://sealgate.ai/docs/getting-started) for the exact steps.

## What OpenClaw can do with Signal

- Triage new Signal messages and draft replies for you to approve.

- Summarize a group thread so you catch up quickly.

- Search past conversations for a link, file, or detail.

- Keep your login and credentials on your own machine the whole time.

## Why connect Signal through SealGate

One setup for every app, works with cloud and mobile agents, fully governed and logged, and your logins stay on your device.

### One setup, every network

The same command connects your whole unified inbox, so you are not wiring up a separate bridge for each app.

### Works with cloud and mobile agents

A local daemon tunnels the connector out, so ChatGPT, Claude, and other cloud agents can use it, not just CLI tools.

### Governed and logged

Every tool call runs through SealGate policies and lands in an audit trail that records only metadata, never your message content, so access stays under your control.

### Your logins stay on your device

Your credentials and logins never reach SealGate's servers; the connector runs on your machine. Message content only passes through in transit to be checked programmatically, and is never stored or read by anyone at SealGate.

## Connecting Signal to OpenClaw: FAQ

Can OpenClaw read and send Signal messages? Yes. OpenClaw adds the SealGate gateway as an MCP server, which lets it use your Signal tools. A local daemon tunnels the connector out, so the self-hosted agent can reach it.

Can I connect ChatGPT or Claude to Signal? Yes. Once you connect Signal through SealGate, your agent can read and send messages, from local tools or cloud apps like ChatGPT and Claude.

Does connecting Signal to an AI break its privacy? Your Signal login stays on your device and never reaches SealGate's servers, and while message content routes through SealGate in transit it is never stored. Be deliberate about it though: any agent you connect can read the messages you point it at, so only grant access to agents and policies you trust.

Does SealGate see my Signal messages? Only the gateway does, and only programmatically. SealGate routes every tool call and checks it against your policies in memory before passing it on, but no one at SealGate can read your messages. Your connector credentials are encrypted and stay on your machine, and SealGate keeps only call metadata, never your message content, so nothing about the conversation is retained after the call.

What does SealGate store about my messages? SealGate routes each tool call to your connector and back, holding the request and response in memory only long enough to apply your policies, then discarding them. That check is automated: the gateway inspects the traffic programmatically to enforce your rules, and no one at SealGate can read your messages. They are never persisted and never used to train any model. SealGate keeps only call metadata (which tool ran, when, and which agent ran it), never the tool-call parameters or results, so your conversations and who you are talking to are never stored on SealGate's servers.

Does it work with cloud agents, not just CLI tools? Yes. A small local daemon called stdiod tunnels your local Signal connector to any cloud or mobile agent, so apps like ChatGPT and Claude can use it too, not just CLI tools on the same machine.
