Can ChatGPT or Claude send WhatsApp messages? Yes. Once you connect WhatsApp through SealGate, your agent can read your chats and send messages to contacts or groups, whether it runs locally or in the cloud like the ChatGPT and Claude mobile apps. Do I need the WhatsApp Business API? No. SealGate connects to your own WhatsApp account through the Beeper desktop app, so there is no separate Business API account or third-party number to provision. Is it safe to give an AI agent access to WhatsApp? Your WhatsApp login stays on your machine and is never stored on SealGate's servers. Every tool call the agent makes runs through SealGate policy checks and is written to an audit log, so you control and can review exactly what it did. What does SealGate store about my messages? SealGate routes each tool call to your connector and back, holding the request and response in memory only long enough to apply your policies, then discarding them. That check is automated: the gateway inspects the traffic programmatically to enforce your rules, and no one at SealGate can read your messages. They are never persisted and never used to train any model. SealGate keeps only call metadata (which tool ran, when, and which agent ran it), never the tool-call parameters or results, so your conversations and who you are talking to are never stored on SealGate's servers. Does it work with cloud agents, not just CLI tools? Yes. A small local daemon called stdiod tunnels your local WhatsApp connector to any cloud or mobile agent, so apps like ChatGPT and Claude can use it too, not just CLI tools on the same machine.
