## Set up Muse for WhatsApp, step by step

- 1 ### Create your SealGate account from this link If you do not already have a SealGate account, sign up at the link below. Starting from it pre-approves the Beeper connector for your new account, so after you install there is nothing to approve by hand. Already have an account? - 2 ### Install the messaging connector Run the one-line installer for your OS (macOS or Windows). It installs sealgate-stdiod and the Beeper connector, which bridges your messaging accounts through the Beeper desktop app on your own logins, and connects it to your SealGate account. - 3 ### Ask Muse to build the SealGate connector Muse has no settings field for an MCP server URL, so you ask it in chat instead. Paste this into a new Muse chat in the app, on muse.ai, or on Mac. Muse writes a client for the gateway on its cloud computer, tests it, and saves it as a skill. If it asks, the server is streamable HTTP and the auth is OAuth. Create a Custom Connector for a new remote MCP server, then connect to it: - Name: sealgate - Transport: remote streamable HTTP - URL: https://mcp.sealgate.ai/mcp - Auth: OAuth (sign in when prompted - there is no API key to paste) Then list its tools and call the sealgate builtin_whoami tool to confirm the connection works. Save the connection as a reusable skill.
- 4 ### Approve the SealGate sign-in Muse shows a SealGate sign-in link. Sign in with the account you created above and approve access. Your API key never goes into the chat, and every call Muse makes shows up under your name in the SealGate dashboard.
- 5 ### Approve the connector if you skipped the signup link If you created your account through the signup link above, Beeper is already approved, so you are done. Otherwise, open the SealGate dashboard and approve the Beeper connector once. Either way every call the agent makes is policy-checked and logged, and you can keep it read-only until you want the agent to reply on your behalf.
- 6 ### Set Muse's approvals, then hand it your inbox In Muse Settings, keep approval on for the SealGate connector so Muse's Sentinel asks before anything is sent. Then ask for the work in plain language: Using the sealgate skill, summarize my unread messages and draft replies for me to approve before anything is sent.

## Connecting Muse

Muse has no settings page for MCP servers. Instead you ask it in chat to build a Custom Connector for the SealGate gateway. ## Muse already lives in WhatsApp. What does SealGate add?

You can already message Muse inside WhatsApp like any other contact. Connecting WhatsApp to Muse through SealGate lets Muse read and reply in your own WhatsApp chats under a policy you write in plain English. You can keep Muse read-only, limit it to certain chats, and require your approval before anything is sent. Each tool call goes into an audit log that records metadata only, and SealGate never stores your message content.

The same connector can carry your other networks, such as iMessage, Telegram, and LinkedIn, so one Muse works across all of them under the same rules. The policy covers what Muse does through the SealGate connector and leaves Muse's own WhatsApp chat as it is.

## Example: a Sunday digest of your family group

Muse can run a task on a schedule, so it can read a busy group once a week instead of you scrolling back through it. It lists what was planned, collects the questions aimed at you, and drafts replies that Sentinel holds for your approval.

## Connecting WhatsApp to Muse: FAQ

Can Muse read and send WhatsApp messages? Yes. Ask Muse in chat to create a Custom Connector for the SealGate gateway and approve the sign-in it shows you. Muse saves the connector as a skill and can then use your WhatsApp tools. Muse runs in Meta's cloud, not on your phone or laptop, so a small local daemon tunnels your WhatsApp connector to it through SealGate.

Does this work in the Muse mobile app? Yes. Muse builds the connector on its cloud computer, not on your device, so once it is saved as a skill it works everywhere you use Muse: the iOS and Android apps, the web at muse.ai, Mac, and inside WhatsApp. The one requirement is that the computer bridging your WhatsApp messages stays on with the Beeper desktop app running.

Which Muse plan supports custom connectors? Meta doesn't list Custom Connectors as a paid feature, so you can build the SealGate connector on Muse's free tier. Connector calls count against Muse's usage meter like everything else Muse does, so if you triage messages every day the Power ($20/month) or Maximum ($100/month) plans give you more room. Muse is currently limited to adults in the US, and Meta asks for a payment card even on the free tier. Check Meta's Help Center for current limits.

Can Muse send WhatsApp messages without asking me? Only if you let it. Muse's Sentinel asks you to approve connector actions, and you choose whether an approval covers one action, one task, a time window, or everything. SealGate's policies sit on top: you can block the sending tools or keep the connector read-only. Keep approvals on for anything that sends.

Do I need the WhatsApp Business API? No. SealGate connects to your own WhatsApp account through the Beeper desktop app, so there is no separate Business API account or third-party number to provision.

Is it safe to give an AI agent access to WhatsApp? Your WhatsApp login is never stored on SealGate's servers. Every tool call the agent makes runs through SealGate policy checks and is written to an audit log that records only metadata (which tool ran, when, and which agent ran it), never your message content, so you control and can review exactly what it did without SealGate storing your messages.

What does SealGate store about my messages? SealGate routes each tool call to your connector and back, holding the request and response in memory only long enough to apply your policies, then discarding them. That check is automated: the gateway inspects the traffic programmatically to enforce your rules, and no one at SealGate can read your messages. They are never persisted and never used to train any model. SealGate keeps only call metadata (which tool ran, when, and which agent ran it), never the tool-call parameters or results, so your conversations and who you are talking to are never stored on SealGate's servers.

Does it work with cloud agents, not just CLI tools? Yes. A small local daemon called stdiod tunnels your local WhatsApp connector to any cloud or mobile agent, so apps like ChatGPT and Claude can use it too, not just CLI tools on the same machine.
