## Connecting X DMs to Hermes: FAQ

Can Hermes read and send X DMs messages? Yes. Hermes adds the SealGate gateway as an MCP server, which lets it use your X DMs tools. A local daemon tunnels the connector out, so the agent can reach it.

Can ChatGPT or Claude read and send my X DMs? Yes. Once you connect X through SealGate, your agent can read your direct messages and draft or send replies, from local tools or cloud apps like ChatGPT and Claude.

Do I need X API access or a paid tier? No. SealGate connects to your own X account through the Beeper desktop app, so there is no X API project or paid API tier to provision.

Is it safe to connect an AI agent to my X DMs? Your X login stays on your machine and is never stored on SealGate's servers. Every tool call runs through SealGate policy checks and an audit log, so you control and can review what the agent does.
